I think the problem is more that suckling babies are a casual reminder that breasts don’t exist merely for men’s sexual pleasure. That really pisses a lot of people off, so it must go away! Whereas breasts pictured in an arousing fashion (or at least, with the intention of being arousing, heh) are just fine.

the equating of nursing to sexuality… I just don’t get it.

Punnery aside (though I do appreciate it so), there are really two huge issues here. And they are entirely separate.

One is definitely the question of internet censorship and legitimate, non-adult-only sites battling what to do with adult content.

But a much more specific point that you didn’t really touch on is: WHY would ANYONE consider breastfeeding obscene? Breastfeeding isn’t obscene, or pornographic, or for adults only. I suspect that the angry moms would be just as angry if Facebook asked them to tag breastfeeding photos as “adult content.”

Our country has huge, huge hangups about sex (duh), but/and Facebook’s policy that All Boobs = Adult Sex Content reflects and perpetuates it.

But really, good puns.
